Hannah and Aj hosted their wedding at a Private Home Rental on Thompson Lake in Oxford, Maine. Hannah and Aj came to me with their vision to make this rental property into an intimate experience for their 50 friends and family and create a venue that complimented the aesthetics and architecture the property provided.
The ceremony space was built into the front lawn with the lake in the backdrop and a birch arbor that was hand built by their family. We wanted to make sure it felt minimal and blended with the aesthetic of the property. Our favorite spot was the pergola space where we hosted cocktail hour and the bar. Cocktail hour consisted of live oyster shucking, specialty cocktails, passed grilled cheese and soup and live acoustic music. We timed the cocktail hour to end perfectly around sunset for AJ and Hannah to share their first dance under the cafe lights on the boho rug floor and then everyone retreated to the clear tent for an intimate dinner together.
We kept the table top items neutral and cozy with pops of emerald green. The BBJ bone velvet napkins were the tabletop splurge to bring softness and texture to the setting. We upgraded the tent lights to feel like a starry night, especially since the sun sets really early in October in Maine we wanted to keep the ambiance going all night.
Another ting we loved was the couple decided to forego a traditional guest book and purchased an original copy of their favorite novel for guests to write their well wishes-- the bonus was the book was dark green and fit perfectly into the design.
