Clear Tent Wedding with Shades of Blue and Peach
Shelby and Chris first met while they were both studying abroad in Innsbruck, Austria while attending the University of Georgia. They began dating after a couple of years of being friends and Chris proposed at Silverlake where they frequently walk their dog, Griffey. When they got home, Chris surprised Shelby once again by throwing a surprise party with both of their families! We had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with this amazing family during the planning process and summer of 2021 because we also worked with Chris’s brother Ben and his wife Stephanie for their wedding. You can find their wedding featured in our recent blog post, Coastal Blush Wedding.
Shelby’s southern upbringing clearly showed through when planning their wedding. Hospitality and attention to their guests were of utmost importance, as they planned a multi-day celebration for all of their loved ones who traveled to attend the wedding. On Thursday, they welcomed their guests to Maine with a vibrant fiesta party including a mariachi band and a large mexican dinner spread and then on Friday they treated all their guests with live music, a barbecue feast, gelato and s’mores before the big day.
It was a true Maine coastal fog kind of day with mist and low visibility across the water, but that didn’t stop them from capturing incredible photos. Their ceremony design was romantic with tall white pedestals of soft and lush florals and a rose petal lined aisle. Later, the reception and dinner took place at the Abenakee Club in a large and elegant clear tent with a white dance floor that was filled the entire night.
Highlights you won’t want to miss
Shelby and Chris shared a dance with Chris’s grandparents who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2021. At the end of the dance, his grandfather grabbed the microphone and said “Let’s get this party started” and the dance floor didn’t empty once after that. It was a great moment.
For a more casual and intimate first dance, they decided to share their dance under the lights at the end of cocktail hour while guests gathered around. After, everyone walked to dinner together. (we are a big fan of this)
The stadium cake! Yes, this was the biggest and most detailed cake we have ever seen!
Shelby and Chris, your wedding was the definition of magic. Congratulations and cheers to all your next adventures together.
